The IET
The IET is one of the world’s largest engineering institutions with over 168,000 members in 150 countries. It is also the most multidisciplinary – to reflect the increasingly diverse nature of engineering in the 21st century.

Support the transition of students and young professionals into engineering careers
To encourage a pipeline of future engineers, we work with educational stakeholders to promote engineering as an inspiring career choice. In order to achieve this goal, we deliver a range of services and scholarships to support engineering and technology students throughout their education.
Engagement with professional development to ensure and demonstrate and grow engineering competency
Professionalism is at the heart of our activities and as a result, we are committed to providing our members with access to relevant and cutting edge topics to further their learning and professional development.
Deliver user-centric knowledge solutions for rapid access to relevant content and services
Creating and sharing engineering technology knowledge is central to how we deliver public benefit. We track emergent technologies and support the publication and use of the research to achieve this.
Demonstrating the public relevance of engineering to society and as a positive career choice
We promote engineering and technology as a positive and fulfilling career choice to young people. We provide thought leadership and policy influence to deliver better engineering solutions to society.
Working across disciplinary, corporate and geographic boundaries to improve innovation and impact
We deliver impact through working internationally; with our volunteers, sister PEIs, academia, industry, government and others to promote the contribution of professional engineering.
